Mari was developed by a New Zealand company Weta Digital, which was used in such films as the District 9, The Lovely Bones and Avatar. Mari is intended only for texturing 3D-models. From analogues (Zbrush, Mudbox, Blender, 3d-coat) is different for up to several thousands of large textures (32k to 32k pixels) on the model, greater speed of working with large textures, greater opportunities for visualization, flexible engine, brushes, animation support, and the ability to create animated textures.

Pasti sudah tau kan tentang Film Avatar, kalau belum lihat dulu..deh!.disini Zs tidak membahas tentang film nya tetapi yang kita bahas di sini adalah tentang desain yang ada pada tokah-tokoh di dalam nya.kenapa begitu ,karena mungkin sobat Zs ada yang bertanya "wih..gimana ya caranya bikin model seperti itu?"tenang saja bagi sobat yang ingin mendesain model seperti tokoh avatar di atas ,yang sobat butuhin hanya sebuah software yang di rancang khusus untuk memberikan textur-textur untuk membentuk karakter yang sama degan karakter kartun yang sobat iginkan ,software tersebut adalah The Foundry Mari 1.2.2 x64 English. Includes Tutorials, Textures, Animated Sequences (2011) .tentunya di dalam software ini sobat tidak hanya dapat membuat textur model seperti film avatar saja tetapi bisa juga untuk model lainnya seperti the District 9, The Lovely Bones dan lainya .
